So for starters, I’m sure most of you have heard of chakras before. If you haven’t, chakras are the centers of spiritual power in your body. There are seven of them. Root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown. Each one is very different and requires different things to keep them balanced. Sickness or stress can sometimes cause the chakras to become blocked and cloudy and they will need to be realigned and balanced. Certain fruits and vegetables have been known to help heal your chakras, usually based on the color of the food and the color associated with that chakra.
If your root chakra is blocked, you may notice that you’re ungrounded, maybe flighty. Maybe you’re fearful of the future or your lacking imagination or you realize you’re having trouble letting things go. This chakra is located at the base of the spine, and associated with the color red. The root chakra is about truth and self protection. Beets, apples, pomegranate, and protein help to heal and balance the root chakra. Walking barefoot on the earth helps you to feel more grounded. Gardening also helps to balance this chakra because planting new life improves balance and helps promote a healthier lifestyle. Getting enough rest is also important for the root chakra.
For the sacral chakra, some healing foods would be nuts, oranges, carrots, and pumpkin. This chakra is associated with the color orange. When it’s blocked it’s going to feel more like you’re having difficulty experiencing joy or being overly emotional. Maybe you’re emotionally cold, or feeling some guilt. The sacral chakra is linked to self respect, creativity and also the female reproductive system. This chakra is located just below your belly button. Important tips for balancing the sacral chakra are to process and express your emotions, forgiveness, yoga, massage, or painting.
The third one is the solar plexus. The solar plexus chakra is located just below your rib cage, and is associated with the color yellow. It’s linked to self-worth, power, and control. If you’re feeling a lack of confidence or self esteem lately, it’s probably safe to say your solar plexus chakra is blocked. This could also feel like a misuse of power or maybe feeling shame. Healing foods for the solar plexus are yellow peppers, squash, oats, and bananas.
There are many things that could affect your heart chakra. If this chakra is cloudy you might feel lonely, have a lack of compassion or have difficulty accepting love. It also may be that you have some unhealthy relationships or sorrow. The heart chakra is located at the center of your chest and associated with the color green. It’s linked to love, and relationships, but also personal development. Foods for the heart chakra include kale, broccoli, and leafy greens.
Next is the throat chakra. When your throat chakra is blocked, you typically will have problems with self expression. Maybe you can’t communicate ideas very well or maybe you’re being deceptive to yourself or even others. You will feel very uncontrolled and low-value. Foods to help heal include blueberries or plums. The throat chakra is linked to truth and communication. It’s associated with the color blue, and located right at the throat.
If you’re feeling a lack of concentration, imagination, or vision, chances are your third-eye chakra is blocked. This could feel like you can’t see the “big picture” or distorted vision. The third-eye chakra is associated with the color indigo. It’s located in between your eyebrows. This chakra is linked to clairvoyance and mindfulness. Healing foods for the third-eye chakra are blackberries, plums, and purple grapes.
Last but most definitely not least is your crown chakra. The crown chakra is located just above the top of your head and is associated with the color indigo. It’s linked to your spiritual and mental wellbeing as well as your psychic centre. When it’s blocked, you might feel indecisive, depressed or confused. You might find it difficult to finish things or feel cut off from your spirituality. Ways to heal the crown chakra don’t include food, but fresh air, sunlight, and nature.
You might be thinking, okay so my chakras are blocked. Now what? How else can I balance and heal my chakras? There are many different ways to balance your chakras including positive affirmations, visualization, crystal therapy, nutrition, aromatherapy, sound therapy, chakra mudra, yoga and so much more.
